Huia is driven by a deep interest in conservation, the plight of our native flora and fauna and a desire for people and the environment to always get a fair deal. She tries to learn something new every day and is always up for a good laugh. When she’s not at work, Huia’s interests are as diverse as her skills; she loves tramping out in the bush, literature and a spot of crochet.
Huia is skilled in fostering positive relationships and bringing people together to have the hard conversations, always with positive outcomes for Papatūānuku at the forefront of her mind. She brings knowledge and people together to ensure everyone is heard and the mahi gets done. Huia has a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Victoria University of Wellington and Certificates in Te Reo Māori, Plain English Writing, Horticulture, Adult Literacy and Numeracy, and Outdoor Leadership.
