Vanessa is of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa descent and is also a sheep and beef farmer in the South Wairarapa. During dry seasons Vanessa and her young son coordinate efforts to rescue native fish from local rivers with low flow.
Vanessa joined the company in 2018 and became a co-director in 2021. She practiced law for a large firm in Wellington before moving back to the Wairarapa to spend time with family, practice environmental planning in the regional sector and with various consultancies, and to help run the farm. Vanessa has significant experience with:
